How Do You Know When You Need Hearing Aids?

These can be early signs your hearing is changing—and you might benefit from hearing aids.

  • You ask people to repeat themselves

  • Conversations in noisy places (like restaurants) are difficult

  • You turn the TV or radio up louder than others prefer

  • It feels like people are mumbling or speaking too softly

  • Family or friends have mentioned your hearing

If any of these sound familiar, it’s a good idea to book a hearing test.

How Hearing Aids Work

Hearing aids are small but powerful devices designed to help you hear better by amplifying the sounds you may be missing.

Here’s a simple breakdown of how they work:

1. Microphones: Tiny microphones on the hearing aid pick up sounds from your environment, like speech, music, or background noise.

2. Processor (Mini Computer): The sound is sent to a digital processor, which analyzes and adjusts it based on your specific hearing needs. It reduces background noise and enhances speech clarity automatically.

3. Amplifier: The processed sound is then made louder—but in a smart, comfortable way. It’s not about making all sounds loud—it’s about making speech clearer and important sounds more noticeable.

What you will get from our hearing aid evaluation

  • We’ll take the time to understand your hearing challenges, lifestyle, and communication needs to ensure the best solution is tailored specifically for you.

  • As a fully independent clinic, we are not tied to any hearing aid manufacturer or brand. Our only goal is to recommend the best hearing aid for your unique situation, free from conflicts of interest.

  • We offer access to a wide range of hearing aid models and brands, ensuring you have the freedom to choose from the latest and most advanced technology available.

  • Our experienced audiologist will guide you through the entire process, from selecting the right hearing aid to understanding its features and functionality.

Tips before your hearing aid evaluation appointment

  • It’s essential to have a hearing test done by a clinical audiologist within the last six months for this appointment. If you already have one, please bring the results with you. Additionally, any other medical records related to your hearing and a list of current medications can help us better understand your hearing health.

  • Take some time to reflect on the situations where you find it difficult to hear. Whether it’s conversations in noisy places, watching TV, or talking on the phone, sharing these experiences will help us recommend hearing aids that fit your lifestyle.

  • We strongly recommend bringing a family member or close friend to your consultation. This person can be an excellent source of support and will help in several ways:

    • Emotional Support: It can be reassuring to have someone familiar with you as you explore hearing solutions.

    • Additional Insight: They may have noticed situations where you struggle to hear that you might not have realized yourself.

    • Help with Recall: Consultations can involve a lot of information about hearing aids, features, and recommendations. Your companion can take notes or help you remember important details discussed during the appointment.

    • Shared Decision-Making: Their input can be valuable when it comes to choosing a hearing aid that suits your daily needs, as they may know your preferences and lifestyle well.

  • It’s important to think about what features are most important to you, such as size, rechargeable batteries, or smartphone compatibility. Having a budget in mind can also help us narrow down the best options for you.

Rest assured, we offer the most competitive and affordable prices in the area.

You do not need to apply for this grant yourself; we handle the paperwork submission to the Assistive Device Program and apply the $1000 grant directly at our clinic.

Many private insurance plans offer coverage for hearing aids; patients are encouraged to verify coverage details with their insurance provider.

  • At Earsonic, we advocate for patients' freedom to choose the manufacturer that best meets their individual needs, without any external influences.

Cost is a significant factor to consider when selecting a hearing aid, and sometimes the decision can be swayed by pricing alone. However, at Earsonic, our ethical stance prohibits us from using pricing as a marketing strategy.

As an independent clinic, separate from any hearing aid manufacturer, we maintain impartiality and do not favor one manufacturer over another by adjusting prices. Therefore, all hearing aid manufacturers are priced equally at our clinic.

  • It's not always the case! It varies depending on your specific needs.

The more we require a hearing aid to handle speech in challenging environments like crowds, restaurants, family gatherings, meetings, or in the car, the higher the technology level required—and consequently, the higher the cost of the hearing aids.

After conducting our clinical evaluations and assessing your performance, we will recommend the technology that best suits your needs.

Entry-level hearing aids can often be an excellent choice.

  • In general hearing aids should last between 4 and 5 years.

  • Absolutely!

This payment plan is managed directly in our clinic and is not affiliated with any bank or third-party financing institution. Our trust in our patients and community enables us to offer this payment plan option always at 0% interest!
